Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO)

The Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) ensures the reliability and cost effectiveness of Ontario’s power system. The IESO plans and prepares for Ontario’s electricity needs by assessing requirements to ensure electricity will be available when and where it is needed. It is an ongoing process that must consider near-, medium and long-term electricity needs, as well as impacts on cost and reliability.
